Partners in Design with The Woven Art Yarn Shop

By McDaniels Kitchens and Bath|Events

In September, we held another successful Partners in Design event in our Lansing, MI showroom. Through our popular monthly event series, we welcome a new design partner to share their knowledge, expertise, and insights. Each partner is a local business or organization that brings a unique perspective to our participants.

At each monthly event, our participants have an opportunity to learn something new and to gain an insight into the products, services, and volunteer opportunities available in our local community. This month we were delighted to welcome The Woven Art Yarn Shop of East Lansing for a fun and educational presentation.

Our September Partner: The Woven Art Yarn Shop

The Woven Art Yarn Shop of East Lansing was founded in 2003 as a space featuring hand-dyed yarn, a weaving studio, and a contemporary Fiber Art Gallery. In 2013, Meg Larned Croft purchased the business and transformed it into what it is today. Meg brought her own vision to the space, creating a shop that is built on her love of wool crafts. She learned to knit at the age of 9, and then expanded her interests into felting, weaving, and other wool crafts.

The Woven Art Yarn Shop offers an amazing range of products. They also host classes and knitting retreats, and even support local MSU students in exploring knitting and much more. The shop provides a welcoming community in our local area for exploring fiber crafts.

What Happened at Our September Event?

We enjoyed a great presentation from Meg Larned Croft, owner of the Woven Art Yarn Shop. The participants were inspired by her generous nature in giving back to the community. The shop provided MSU students free knitting lessons after the shooting on campus last year. Meg is committed to using fibers that are grown, dyed, and spun in the United States. Her unique fibers and her commitment to the industry draws customers from all over the US. Meg is committed to working with Michigan-based and local companies. She also teaches numerous classes on different knitting and crocheting techniques. We really enjoyed hearing about her passion for wool crafts, her creativity in making her own patterns, and her commitment to sharing her knowledge with the community.

Here is a sneak peek at our October Partners in Design event.

October’s event is all about fresh, locally produced food! We can’t wait to welcome Webberville, MI’s own Choice Farm Market to our Lansing, MI showroom to tell us all about their amazing journey from family farm to family-owned store front. The original family farm was established in 1838, and they raised registered Holsteins for many years. The vision for Choice Farm Market began in the early months of 2021. Their store offers high quality, locally made products, most made in Michigan and even within Ingham County. They also provide delicious breakfast and lunch items, offer “Fall Adventure” with fun family attractions, and are adding a tasting room for Burgdorf’s Winery.

Join us on October 15th from 3 – 4:00 pm to learn more about this local business and all it has to offer!
