We kicked off a new year of engaging and educational Partners in Design events with a visit from the DeWitt Chief of Police, Matt Merony. Each month, we host a range of businesses and organizations in our Lansing, MI showroom to share their knowledge, experience, and expertise with our participants. These events are a highlight of McDaniels Kitchen and Bath’s monthly calendar. We have welcomed businesses and organizations ranging from food establishments to art galleries, volunteer organizations, and much more.
All About Partners in Design
2026 marks the start of our fifth year of Partners in Design events. Our team enjoys this unique opportunity to link with our local community, connecting businesses and organizations in our area with participants who attend to learn about everything our community has to offer. Each monthly Partner in Design event offers a fun, educational, and engaging experience. Design partners give a presentation and often bring examples of their work to showcase their products, food samples to share, or even products to sell. Past design partners include custom cakes and desserts, photo restoration, gift shops, galleries, clothing stores, and community or volunteer organizations. It’s amazing to see everything our community has to offer!
Our January Design Partner
We were very lucky to have the DeWitt Charter Township Chief of Police join us in our Lansing, MI showroom to discuss personal and online safety. Chief Merony has extensive experience with personal safety issues and was able to bring a unique perspective to our event series. He is a former Michigan State University Police and Public Safety Captain and has been the Chief of the DeWitt Township Police Department since 2022.
Here’s What Happened at Our January Event
Despite it being a snowy day, we had a great turnout for our January event with Chief Merony. Chief Merony’s training, experience, and dedication to the community came through in his message. He had great advice for the event’s participants to stay alert in all situations. His advice includes:
- Don’t be distracted when walking around, and look around.
- If you are in a new environment, be on the phone with someone or pretend to be on the phone.
- Look for exits in all environments.
- Call the police when something bothers you, as it probably bothers others.
- For businesses, have a plan and practice it.
